How does God take a young man from the South Shore of Massachusetts who loves the game of football on a circuitous route to the heartland of America, then to the Rocky Mountains, before returning home to fulfill his calling? This is the story of Pastor Paul Atwater. It’s a narrative about learning and loving the word of God, but one that involves an inner transformation by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Paul Atwater was the founding pastor of North River Church (launched in 1989) and continues to serve as the Senior Pastor. He graduated from Wheaton College in Illinois, and Denver Seminary in Colorado. He has a passion and gift for communicating God’s grace and love to people who did not grow up with strong church connections. Paul and Susan have been married since 1981, with two grown daughters.
